Do you dare? These are the most steep & special slopes of Les Portes du Soleil

The most incredible slopes in Les Portes du Soleil

Les Portes du Soleil is Europe's largest ski area and offers unlimited ski fun for all levels. With over 650km of slopes, the area offers tons of possibilities between France and Switzerland. You'll also find a number of breathtaking steep slopes in Les Portes du Soleil, suitable for daredevils and experienced skiers. Are you up for the challenge? Here are the best slopes in the Portes du Soleil area:

1. The steepest slope of all: "Le Mur Suisse".

Le Mur Suisse - or "The Wall" - in Avoriaz is the steepest slope in the Portes du Soleil area. The slope has an inclination of 76% and a difference in height of no less than 400 metres. Not impressed yet? All the slopes in the area are groomed at night, but this particular section is not groomed at all. The entire run is therefore full of bumps which promises quite a unique ride. For experienced skiers, Le Mur Suisse is definitely a must for a winter sports holiday in Les Portes du Soleil.

2. Grand Paradis: a 7 km long descent

Another fantastic slope for the avid skiers among us is the Grand Paradis: a 7-kilometre-long section and the perfect downhill run. The first part of the descent is wide and quiet, and provides beautiful views. A challenge this one, but definitely worth a spot on this list!

3. Coupe du Monde: spectacular black

Another slope for daredevils! The adventure at Coupe du Monde begins already at the top of the track, from where you are treated to an amazing view. This makes the start of this black slope truly spectacular. Coupe du Monde can be reached with the Haut Forts chairlift and the trail ends at the bottom of Les Prodains.

4. Belette: skiing in stunning nature

De Belette is the perfect slope for those who love to ski in nature. The green piste starts at Plaine Dranse in Châtel, and continues for 3.5 km through the trees all the way to Pré La Joux. Definitely one to keep in mind for your next skitrip to Les Portes du Soleil!

Post-skiing: more fun things to do in Les Portes du Soleil

A ski trip offers so much more than just being active on the slopes! Here are a few other tips for your holiday in Les Portes du Soleil:

Plaine Dranse: lunch and drinks

After burning hundreds of calories on the steep slopes, you have definitely earned a nice lunch! Plaine Dranse is a fun place to ski through, but we advise you to at least stop for drinks or lunch while you're there. The place is stacked with nice restaurants and bars, so definitely have a go at one of them. Lunch tip: order a Croque Monsieur and enjoy French Cuisine at its best!
