Origins of the River Isar
The Isar River is the fourth largest river in the region of Beieren. In the Karwendel Mountains, just behind the Austrian border on the high plateau of the region Seefeld, the clear water flows from three sources. The source of the Isar is located in the Scharnitz area of Tyrol, surrounded by the mighty Karwendel.
The route to the source of the Isar can be taken from Scharnitz on foot, by bicycle or e-bike. The crystal-clear blue water accompanies you through the impressive Hinterautal valley. At the source of the Isar, there are numerous water currents, which flow vividly all year round. You will also find a beautiful resting place.

After the necessary efforts, it is also time to relax. Relax during an intensive hike or mountain bike tour on a sun terrace at one of the cosy mountain huts. Enjoy Tyrolean specialities with a wonderful panoramic view of the region.
